Admissions for Pupils

Newton Road School is currently consulting on the proposed changes to the admission arrangements for 2021
The PAN for reception being reduced from 45 to 30 children
The consultation period for changes to admission arrangements for 2021 intake will run between Monday 11 November 2019 - Friday 20 December 2019.

Newton Road School is pleased to welcome all pupils from the local area.  Admissions are coordinated by Northamptonshire County Council and applications must be made to them directly.

As part of the Nene Education Trust, Newton Road School is an inclusive school serving the local community.

The school’s published admission number (PAN) is 45 per year group.

The Trust uses Northamptonshire County Council to manage their admissions and appeals processes. All admissions to school are dealt with by the Local Authority and once a place has been secured, the admissions team from County will contact the school with information of a new child.

Oversubscription Criteria

Places will be allocated to pupils who have a statement of SEN of EHC plan that names the school as appropriate provision. When there are more applications than there are places available, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Children in public care or previously in public care but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, resident/child arrangements order or special guardianship order
  2. Pupils with an older brother or sister continuing at the school at the time of admission of the younger child
  3. Pupils who live closer to the preferred school than any other school
  4. Other pupils

Tie Breaker

If the admission number is exceeded within criterion iii, priority will be given to those who live furthest from the nearest alternative school. If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion, priority will be given to those that live closest to the school.
